Everything that exists in society acquires its power from some source, likewise media also gets it’s from three sources. These sources of power have three common explanations: (i) Firstly, control over the material and cultural sources and gain consent of others. (ii) Secondly, the social position you have that decides your place and capacity (iii) And finally, hold on language to build social relations These three explanations state that power is directly proportional to economic, cultural resources, and social positions. In society to have power and control, elites and would be elites always try to grab the institutions that make and manage ideas. Different institutions are “licensed” to produce and pass on meaning, those institutions are: education institutions, the media, parliaments and court of law. Everyone who has power tries to get the control into their hand and mostly when the power relations are fragile. Those powerful groups try to handle and limit the access of the resources.
